Methylbenzoprim induces S-phase cell cycle arrest. Cell-cycle distribution was evaluated by flow cytometric analysis on Mel501 proliferating cells treated with Pyr (8 μg/ml) and MBP (0.8, 8 μg/ml) for 24, 48 and 72 h. Pie charts show the distribution of cells in the different each phase of the cell cycle: S-phase (dark grey), G2/M (white) and G0/G1 (grey), obtained from three independent experiments. In particular, the low dose of MBP (0.8 μg/ml) was sufficient to induce a high percentage of cells in S-phase as compared to high dose of Pyr (8 μg/ml) at all time points analyzed.
