Effects of RF-Id on apoptosis. U87 MG cells were not treated or treated with RF-Id IC:50 for 72 h. Apoptosis was evaluated by FACS analysis, after double cell labeling with propidium iodide (PI) and Annexin V-FITC. The lower left quadrants of each panel show the viable cells, which exclude PI and are negative for AnnexinV-FITC binding. The upper left quadrants contain the non-viable, necrotic cells, negative for Annexin V-FITC binding and positive for PI uptake. The lower right quadrants represent cells in early apoptosis that are Annexin V-FITC positive and PI negative. The upper right quadrants represent the cells in late apoptosis, positive for both Annexin V-FITC binding and for PI uptake. The experiments were performed at least three times and the results were always similar
