Liquid biopsy of HCC: circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) are easily accessible in peripheral blood of patients. These molecules are released from HCC cells undergoing apoptosis or necrosis and can be extracted from a blood sample. Analysis of these molecules can be used for early tumor detection and provide prognostic treatment strategy from HCC patients
