Effect of pioglitazone treatment on cell proliferation in a panel of human lung cancer and non-tumor cell lines, and ADK patient samples. Cells were treated with different concentrations of pioglitazone (range 0.1–50 μM) for 72 h in in vitro (a) and 3D culture from ADK patient samples, symbols indicate different patient samples (b). The images shown are representative of one of the experiments conducted on organoids deriving from ADK patient samples seeded in Matrigel and photographed after treatment with pioglitazone. The proliferation rate was evaluated by MTT assay, as described in Materials and Methods. Data are the average ± SD of three independent experiments, each performed in triplicate. Asterisks indicate statistical significance, P < 0.01
