LSD1 Modulation of Cell Growth and Kinase Signaling Pathways. As a histone demethylase, LSD1 targets H3K4 demethylation, influencing crucial cellular processes. Inhibition of LSD1 leads to reduced mTOR signaling and subsequent attenuation of mitochondrial respiration, impacting cell metabolism and growth [151]. Moreover, LSD1 inhibition upregulates the expression of p21, a negative regulator of the cell cycle, culminating in cell cycle arrest [151, 152].
