From: L-kynurenine induces NK cell loss in gastric cancer microenvironment via promoting ferroptosis
The schematic diagram to show L-KYN from GC cells leads to NK cell ferroptosis. A L-KYN was metabolized by IDO in GC cells and released into the TME. The NK cells with lower GPX4 expression were sensitive to L-KYN induced ferroptosis, reducing the killing efficiency towards GC cells. This could lead to immune escape of GC cells from the surveillance and clearance of NK cells. However, some NK cells with higher GPX4 expression could survive the L-KYN stimulation and contribute to anti-tumor responses
